Hewson is visiting Warsaw to promote the company's strategy for Poland and the Central European region, emphasizing themes of industrial partnership and research collaboration. The 24-month Warsaw University of Technology project, which began in November 2013, is an important part of this strategy.

Conducted by the Department of Automation and Aeronautical Systems at the University's School of Power and Aeronautical Engineering, the project aims to formulate recommendations for optimally using manned and unmanned airborne systems.

Hewson also announced that Lockheed Martin will fund a $100,000 new scholarship program with the Warsaw University of Technology. "The scholarship will encourage the continued collaboration between students here and those in leading U.S. engineering universities," said Hewson. "I'm confident that when we're working together, we can solve the complex challenges of the future that will advance our societies and keep our nations safe."

During the meeting, WUT students and teachers discussed aerospace industry needs for new experts in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). Hewson noted that Polish experts, particularly those in technical fields, are highly valued around the world. She added, "I am extremely pleased that Lockheed Martin has such a strong relationship with an important technical university in Poland. I eagerly await the results of our joint research project, and look forward to further developing our research cooperation and technology transfer."
