Broadband Internet service is going to be improved and expanded in Saskatchewan this year.
Saskatchewan Telecommunications Holding Corp. outlined details of its plan Tuesday at a Saskatchewan Association of Rural Municipalities convention in Saskatoon.
The Crown company says the service will be expanded to 50 new communities, which will be named at a later date.
Another 200 communities will see the speed of their broadband service increased, while SaskTel also plans to build 31 new towers in rural areas.
The expansion and upgrades are expected to cost SaskTel $57-million over the next seven years.
The SARM convention wraps up Thursday.
