Toyota Motor Corp said on October 27, 2011 it would keep its Thai production suspended for a fourth week and reduce output in North America and South Africa, marking the first impact of the floods in Thailand on car production outside Asia.CHAIWAT SUBPRASOM/Reuters

Toyota Motor Corp. said Thursday it will cut production at its North American plants because of flooding in Thailand that is affecting parts shipments.

Production will be adjusted beginning next week, the company said in a statement posted on its Japanese website.

Toyota has already cut production in Japan because of flooding that has disrupted supplies of parts.

The production cuts come as the auto maker's plants were returning to normal production after the chaos caused by the March 11 earthquake, tsunami and power outages.
