Greetings and salutations. It's been a while.
Thought this would be as good a time as any to revive this puppy here at the Winter Meetings - A.K.A. baseball's rumour central.
It should be quite a week with free-agent-to-be, Toronto's Roy Halladay, the subject of most trade scenarios being floated around.
Stay tuned right here for this and any other development I deem to be blog-worthy. The clock is now running and I figure to attached to this computer for up to 12 hours a day or more.
I hope the boss is ready for that hefty overtime bill.
I was made to feel right at home upon landing in this fair city; there is snow on the ground and I left my mukluks in Toronto.
Just made my first walk-through at the lobby here at the downtown Marrriot, which is the site for this year's event. Lots of people drinking coffee. The lobby Starbucks is going to make a killing.
After purchasing a cappuccino that appears to be mostly foam, I wind my way to the media room that will be my home for the next four days.
First guy I spot is Tommy Lasorda, the old manager. It seems that he's the guy I always see first at these things.
He's up at the front of the room talking to various media types, no doubt about the election to the National Baseball Hall of Fame of Whitey Herzog and Doug Harvey. Lasorda is on the veteran's committee that makes these decisions.
Herzog was a six-time division winner and manager of the 1982 World Series champion St. Louis Cardinals. Harvey umped a total of five times in the World Series.
Oops, just checked my watch.
Time to make another sweep of the lobby.
Just made my first walk-through of the lobby of the downtown Marriott, the site for this year
