OK, got a few wireless issues out of the way. Bonds batted in the fifth against Tomko and popped up a 2-1 breaking pitch to catcher Russell Martin. The inning before, Bonds was serenaded with chants of 'Bar-Roid!'

Vin Scully informs us that according to the Farmer's Almanac the Dog Days of Summer end on Aug. 11 this year. Further, he relays the history of the 'dog days' going back to the Romans. "They'd sacrifice a brown dog to appease Sirius when the weather was hot ... so Sirius would not get so serious and hot."

The Dodger Stadium pressbox is a tight squeeze and every time Bonds bats reporters without seats jump up on a railing behind the back row to get a better view. They're right over my shoulder now, and I wish they'd all ...

nah.

Anyhow, here comes our guy Bonds against Scott Proctor. One out, man  on second, Giants leading 3-1. Martin and Proctor meet twice. They're going to intentionally walk him and that leads to all sorts of boos. Proctor, to his credit, does not look very happy.

Anyhow, here comes Fred Lewis to pinch-run. There go the fans to the exits. Barry does Hollywood has turned into a colossal box office bust.

The death march continues ....
