Timeline: A history of terror in Canada Add to ...

Almost since the Confederation in 1867 terror has played a role in Canada. Within a year a high-profile politician had been assassinated, and the last few decades have seen a constant stream of incidents. Sometimes the perpetrators are motivated by politics, sometimes by religion, sometimes by a mix of both and sometimes by something else entirely. In any case, this week's arrest of two people allegedly planning to bomb a train is just another in a long, sometimes dark 150 years.
