Champagne is to fashion show as beer is to hockey. So fashionistas are delighted that their favourite tipple has a new twist: The official champagne of Toronto's L'Oréal Fashion Week is Rich Prosecco, which comes in an adorable gold tin with a little matching straw. (Yes, we know prosecco is not champers, but bubbly is the festive point.)
The straw makes navigating a party (and all those air kisses) easier. The drink is scheduled to appear in Canadian liquor stores next month. Meantime, it has been launched at nightclubs, for about $10 a pop (200 millilitres).
And speaking of clubs, the drink's official spokescelebrity is, of course, Paris the heiress.
Ah, Paris. Off to Africa to promote her hair extensions. Well, at least this promotional gig allows her to rave about the patented scientific process by which the tiny bubbles are trapped in the tin.
Thus, we predict there will be a great deal of Italianate chin-chinning next week at the fashion tents around City Hall. Not to mention all those fabulous after-parties.
