ADRIENNE CLARKSON, FORMER GOVERNOR-GENERAL

As told to Liz Walker

"We are no different from lots of families in that it's a time to be together and have quiet suppers. If you were to look at two weeks like a sonata, I think Sunday night is like the adagio. It's slow and easy and certainly not spent in traffic.

"I look at what Lucy Waverman has said in The Globe on Saturday. If I read it on Saturday I might go to my butcher or fish market and try it out right away.

"I recently baked chicken thighs. It's a kind of Moroccan dish, because of the spicing. You use fresh ginger, ground coriander, cumin. You brown the chicken and make this layer of onions and vegetables. Then you just have to cook it for 10 minutes in a very hot oven. It all crisps up. I serve that with couscous, salad and a nice glass of Canadian gewurztraminer from Niagara or B.C. I like the slightly fruity quality of the white with those kinds of spices in it."
