WHAT I HAD FOR SUNDAY DINNER

PAULY SHORE, COMEDIAN

As told to Liz Walker

"I'm a good cook. My mom [Mitzi Shore, owner of Los Angeles's stand-up club The Comedy Store] would call me from work and say, 'Pauly, make me some food.' When your parents are divorced you gotta learn how to cook.

"So I cooked some brown rice, poached salmon and cooked vegetables. The way I start it is I coat the little pan with a little bit of soy sauce, olive oil and a little bit of water. Just a little bit. Then I throw the salmon on there, put a piece of tinfoil over it and it poaches really nicely for about 10 minutes and then you flip it over. When you flip it over you put the vegetables in there. There's a place down the street from my house called Bristol Farms. I got some shiitake mushrooms there. Everything is gourmet. You gotta eat fresh food, you know? Then I just relaxed and watched a little CNN. I live alone with my dog, Butter. She's my girlfriend. She's a Lab-chow mix."
