"My wife Mary is the cook. She marinated pork tenderloin for a good part of the day and then put it on the barbecue. It's to die for. Would you like the marinade recipe? One-third cup tarragon vinegar, one-third cup oil and a tablespoon of Hy's of Canada seasoning salt and an onion, chopped. She's big on fresh vegetables and herbs. She did fresh asparagus, broccoli, cauliflower, green beans and baked potatoes.
"It was a family country-meal atmosphere. My brother-in-law, Guy, is the farmer on our land. Talking to Guy sensitizes me to the land; I've been away and the first question when I'm back always revolves around weather. Farmers know a whole lot more about what's going on under the surface of the earth then most gardeners do.
"Mary made a rhubarb pie and she used four cups, we have so much. We finished the pie and no one wanted to get up from the table. I think that's the sign of a successful meal, isn't it?"
