OUTAOUAIS: NEW WATER MAZE

Canadian Press

The Outaouais region of Quebec has a new ecotourism attraction: a water maze called Eco-Odyssée. Visitors use paddleboats to discover animal and plant life in a 28-hectare marsh labyrinth just 30 minutes from Gatineau-Ottawa. An evening excursion is offered between 7 and 9:30 p.m. to see the awakening of nocturnal animals - including minks, beavers, muskrats and great-horned owls - as diurnal animals such as ducks settle in for the night. There is also a dawn outing between 5:30 and 8:30 a.m., when animal activity is at its peak.
