THE BUY: I'M NOT A PAPER CUP

From Saturday's Globe and Mail

It seems that Anya Hindmarch's now-famous I'm Not a Plastic Bag canvas tote has inspired legions of knockoffs - and not just on the bag front. Decor Craft Inc. Products brings us the latest in self-declaring eco wares, this time for the home.

Or, more likely, the office. The brilliant I'm Not A Paper Cup, designed by James Burgess, is a porcelain riff on the Starbucks vessels we carry around like life support, except this one isn't disposable.

The likeness is uncanny, down to the silicone lid that mimics the plastic original.

But this cup isn't just about doing your part for waste management: It's functional, too.

The cup is constructed with two layers of porcelain, leaving a hollow cavity that acts as an insulator. This means that your java will stay warmer than in a paper counterpart.

Something practical with a healthy dose of wit? Anya would be proud.

I'm Not A Paper Cup costs $21 at Function 13 in Toronto (http://www.function13.ca). Visit http://www.dcigift.com for other retailers across Canada.
