The Buy: Tag Heuer Professional Golf Watch

Globe and Mail Update

Poor, boring Tiger Woods isn't exactly a style icon, no matter how many times Men's Vogue and various other gents mags try to tell us so. But he's now part of a celebrity style collaboration that actually makes sense. Just in time for golf season, Woods, a "brand ambassador" for TAG Heuer, has helped design this Professional Golf Watch.

The timepiece was developed to meet the unique ergonomic and subtle aesthetic requirements of top-level golfers (and wannabes). The clasp and folding buckle of a conventional watch can hurt the wrist while playing, and the standard placement of the crown at 3 o'clock can interfere with motion and comfort when the wrist is bent. TAG's system integrates the clasp into the watch head and moves the crown from the 3 to the 9 o'clock position.

Plus, it's made of ultra-light titanium and stainless steel and has a super-elastic silicon rubber strap.

It's available in black, white and pink.

$1,600 at Birks, www.birks.com.
