Not Famous: Dancing to her own beat

From Tuesday's Globe and Mail

Jacky Essombe's Afro'Robics fitness class blends traditional African dance with a contemporary aerobics workout. Afro'Robics attracts people of all ages, as 'the dance has to adapt to the dancer, not the other way around,' she explains while preparing to teach a class last Sunday at the Roundhouse Community Arts and Recreation Centre in Vancouver. Six years ago, she started teaching dance workshops, but as they became more popular, demand grew for regular classes. In addition to teaching weekly classes at various community centres, Ms. Essombe also shows her moves on TV as part of Channel M's Workout series.
