Looking for something to do this weekend that doesn't involve shopping, wrapping, caroling or baking?This weekend, the Museum of Civilization launches Tombs of Eternity: The Afterlife in Ancient Egypt. Visitors can see more than 200 artifacts, including sculptures, weapons, jewellery, amulets, furniture, sarcophagi and human and animal mummies, each giving insight into life, death and eternity in ancient Egypt. Stick around for lectures, demonstrations and screenings of the IMAX film Mummies: Secrets of the Pharaohs.

Cost: $10 for adults and $6 for children.

When: Dec. 19 to Aug. 16, 2009.

Sing Noel

Kingston, Ont.

Kingston will come alive with the candle-lit sound of the Cantabile Choirs this Friday and Saturday night. Blending 250 voices, the seven choirs that make up the Cantabile will perform traditional and contemporary carols and holiday songs at the Christmas concert. Practise your humming if you want to join in.

Cost: $25.

Ghostly tales

Hamilton, Ont.

You've got to hand it to our Victorian ancestors. They really knew how to entertain, what with all that plum pudding, wassailing and spooky storytelling around a fireplace. Be transported back in time at Haunted Hamilton's Parlour Theatre on Sunday night. Sit by the fireplace and hear ghostly Christmas tales. Look out for Christmas surprises, live music and caroling.

Cost: $15 for adults, $5 for kids.
