The Buy: SpongeBob PinkPants

Globe and Mail Update

It's safe to say most women don't immediately relate to SpongeBob SquarePants. He's yellow, for one thing. He seems to take his fashion cue from Dilbert. And he's a sponge.

But in the name of breast cancer awareness, we suggest you warm up to his unabashedly girly side (be nice; no jokes about his sexual preferences allowed).

Meet SpongeBob PinkPants who — white overstarched shirt notwithstanding — has gone all rosy for the month of October: His porous skin is now in a state of bold blush. Subtle, he's not, but comfy he is. The beloved underwater thingy has lent his face to a range of comfy clothing, from tanks to pajamas. We love the fuzzy slippers, so blatantly plush and pink that your tootsies will feel tickled, your heart warmed. Just don't call him SpongeBoob.

Slippers, $9.92 a pair, available at Wal-Mart. Clothing, from $7.90 to $34.99 is also available at La Senza and Sears. One hundred per cent of proceeds will be donated to Rethink Breast Cancer.
