Government launches site on flu pandemic

Ottawa — Canadian Press

Health Minister Tony Clement launched a new "one-stop" website today to provide information on Canada's preparedness for a possible flu pandemic.

The website — www.pandemicinfluenza.gc.ca — brings together information from several government departments and agencies.

Mr. Clement said the site is important because the effectiveness of the government's response to a pandemic would depend on providing information to the public.

The minister also unveiled pamphlets and other public information material to be distributed to doctors and pharmacists across the country.

The information is designed to answer questions about the risk of getting the flu, and to provide information on seasonal flu, avian flu and pandemic flu.
