A pair of U.S. properties in the Fairmont Hotels & Resorts chain seem to have gone to the dogs.

The Fairmont Copley Plaza in Boston now offers its guests canine companionship via the hotel's resident black Labrador retriever, Catie Copley. Formally trained as a guide dog, Catie has switched careers and is now in hospitality.

As "canine ambassador," Catie greets guests who miss the companionship of their own pets, and accompanies them on walks and jogs. She even has her own booklet featuring her favourite walks, an appointment book, business cards and an e-mail address (catie.copley@fairmont.com).

The Fairmont Washington, D.C., meanwhile, has its own canine staff member as well. Jana, a black Labrador retriever puppy, is in training to be a guide dog and is being socialized at the hotel. Jana also has her own e-mail address: janathedog@fairmont.com.
