The Mandarin Oriental hotel chain will break ground later this year on Grand Cayman for what will be its first Caribbean property.

The 114-room, $54-million resort will be located on a four-hectare site on the island's northeast coast, about 35 minutes from George Town.

The resort is slated to open in 2007.
