TIPSY 007

Fictional British secret agent James Bond prefers his martinis shaken, not stirred, but if he were a real person he'd be a falling-down drunkard. A team of British scientists recently analyzed the 14 original Bond novels penned by Ian Fleming and concluded that 007 consumed an average of 92 drinks each week, which works out to 13 drinks a day. RADIO SILENCE

Corus Entertainment has pulled the plug on The Dean Blundell Show. The program has been removed from the Toronto-based, Corus-owned station 102.1 the Edge following a series of homophobic jokes between the show's producer, Derek Weisman, and online personalities. The jokes made reference to a sexual assault trial for which Weisman served as jury foreman. The Corus statement: "Effective immediately, we are suspending The Dean Blundell Show. This will allow us to review our internal practices to ensure that our programming is compliant with our station's policies, as well as community and broadcast standards."

DIVERSITY GAMES

In the wake of criticism levied at Saturday Night Live for lack of diversity in its cast, executive producer Lorne Michaels held impromptu auditions for African-American females in early December. Eleven female comedians reportedly auditioned and The New York Times TV critic Bill Carter tweeted that a new African-American female cast member will be added to SNL in January. Meanwhile, comic Tiffany Haddish states the auditions were a publicity stunt: "They're just wasting all these black women's time and gas money," she told TMZ.

NBA superstar Kobe Bryant took to Twitter to respond to NFL legend Jim Brown dissing him on a talk show. Earlier this week on The Arsenio Hall Show, Brown made light of Bryant's upbringing in Italy and said that if he held a summit of African-American celebrities, "There would be some athletes I wouldn't call and Kobe would be one of them." On Thursday, Bryant responded on Twitter by saying, "A 'Global' African American is an inferior shade to 'American' African Americans?? … hmm … That doesn't sound very Mandela or DrKing sir."
