Katy Perry may not know how to twerk like Miley or preen like Gaga, but she sure knows how to deliver great quotes.
As reported by MTV News, the Roar singer holds little back in her interview published in the new issue of GQ magazine.
In keeping with the occasion, Perry, 29, also appears on the cover of the February edition of GQ attired in a revealing striped swimsuit top – and that's all Katy, she says proudly in the interview.
Among other revelations, the GQ interview features Perry saying that when she was growing up in Santa Barbara, Calif., she prayed for two things: to become a singer and to have large breasts.
In her own words: "I lay on my back one night and looked down at my feet, and I prayed to God. I said, 'God, will you please let me have boobs so big that I can't see my feet when I'm lying down?"
And at the tender age of 11: "God answered my prayers … I had no clue they would fall into my armpits eventually."
On the same topic, Perry uses the interview to reassert her long-standing claim that she has never resorted to cosmetic augmentation.
"I've never had plastic surgery," she says. "… So my messages of self-empowerment are truly coming from an au naturel product."
Naturally, the interviewer asked the devoutly Christian Perry about her opinions on casual drug use, specifically marijuana, which she says is simply not her cup of tea.
"Everyone is high!" says Perry, meaning everyone but her. "The weed – I'm not friends with it. … I can't do that stuff. I'd be like in the corner: 'Are you trying to kill me?"
Getting even more personal, the interviewer asked Perry about her love life. She reveals that she lost her virginity at 16 while listening to the Jeff Buckley album Grace in the front seat of a Volvo and touches fleetingly on her 14-month marriage to British actor Russell Brand.
There's more insight provided on Perry rediscovering true romance with singer-songwriter John Mayer, with whom she parted ways with last year before recently rekindling their relationship.
"I think I needed to grow up," says Perry of the split. "I'm just having a wonderful experience with a wonderful guy. There's no rush."
But perhaps the most whimsical moments in the interview come from Perry talking about her offbeat friendship with U.S. President Barack Obama.
Perry discusses her performance at a 2012 re-election rally for the second-term president and says that she "might have won" the state of Wisconsin for the Democratic Party. Perry says the president even called her "a couple times" to thank her for her support.
And when you have friends in high places, very often you want them to share your beliefs, which in Perry's case means looking for proof of extraterrestrials.
"I believe in aliens," Perry says in the interview. "I look up into the stars and I imagine: How self-important are we to think that we are the only life form? I mean, if my relationship with Obama gets any better, I'm going to ask him that question. It just hasn't been appropriate yet."
