Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have brought in the big guns – literally – for protection after Kardashian was tackled on a red carpet in Paris yesterday.
TMZ reports that the celebrity couple have hired armed guards to protect them while they're in the City of Lights for Paris Fashion Week.
Sources told TMZ that the couple's usual security team has been bolstered by the hiring of two additional teams of armed bodyguards, who will reportedly encircle the couple whenever they appear in public in the coming days.
The same report claims the Kim-Kanye protective team will also include armoured vehicles.
The heightened security comes in the wake of a bizarre assault on Kardashian upon her arrival at a Fashion Week event on Thursday afternoon.
As can be seen in the video, Kardashian, her mother Kris Jenner and West showed up at the event amid a throng of screaming fans and paparazzi.
At the moment Kardashian exited her limo, she was abruptly tackled by an unknown assailant, who grabbed her by the legs and tried to pull her to the ground.
Bodyguards quickly jumped in to subdue the attacker and then briskly escorted Kardashian, Jenner and West into the building.
Although the attacker's identity remains unconfirmed, all signs point to Ukrainian-born serial prankster Vitalii Sediuk, the same person who tackled Brad Pitt on a red carpet in Los Angeles last May.
On previous occasions, the 25-year-old Sediuk has also attempted to kiss Will Smith (who gave him a slap in the face for his efforts) on a red carpet and shoved his face in Leonardo DiCaprio's crotch.
The attention-seeking Sediuk avoided jail time for the Pitt incident, but has been banned from showing up at L.A. celebrity events for a three-year period.
Within hours of the incident in Paris yesterday, Sediuk had spoken to the Daily Mail Online to take credit for the attack and plead for the reality star's forgiveness.
"I hope Kim is okay and won't be mad at me as I didn't mean any harm," said Sediuk. "Kanye is one lucky man as Kim is a goddess."
