Miley Cyrus insists that her recent stay in a hospital was not due to a drug overdose – but will admit to being hooked on honey and lavender.
By all reports, the Wrecking Ball singer looked the picture of health at a press conference that took place shortly before her concert at London’s O2 Arena on Tuesday.
Attired in red leather pants, a shortie denim jacket and rockabilly boots, Cyrus said she “kind of took the natural route” to recover from a recurring respiratory infection that put her Bangerz concert tour on hold for two weeks.
“I’m the poster child for good health,” boasted the 21-year-old singer. “You have no idea how ready I am. There is nothing I would rather not do than lay in a bed for two weeks. It was the most miserable two weeks of my life.”
While discussing her illness, Cyrus also took the time to dismiss multiple online rumours that she was hospitalized because of a drug overdose.
“I didn’t have a drug overdose,” said the former Hannah Montana star. “I took some s––y antibiotics that a doctor gave me for a sinus infection and I had a reaction.”
Cyrus claims her recovery was expedited by natural methods.
“I’m on this crazy vitamin rush and crazy honey and lavender. I learned a lot about taking care of yourself,” she told reporters.
For that matter, Cyrus said that any form of substance indulgence before performing isn’t an option for her any more.
“I’m probably the only one on this tour who doesn’t drink or smoke before a show, as I take this very seriously,” she said. “It’s almost like being an athlete up here, because if someone was f–d up, they definitely couldn’t do my show.”
However she recovered, it’s working for Cyrus. The Telegraph’s music critic Bernadette McNulty gave her London concert on Tuesday night four stars out of five.
“Never have I seen a star look so delighted or comfortable on stage,” wrote McNulty. “She couldn’t get close enough to her fans, spraying them with water from her mouth or collecting up their gifts, chatting away about her recent illness or the death of her beloved dog, Floyd.”
On the downside, McNulty thought that Cyrus may have slightly misjudged the young demographic in attendance at her show.
From the review: “She overestimated their ages when she suggested they were all high on weed and booze rather than, more likely, oversized cokes and candyfloss, but her mission seems to be to cheerlead rather than corrupt them.”
As Miley herself might say: It’s all good, y’all.
