But the 35-year-old is working hard to revitalize her acting career: She will appear in a total of five flicks this year and is already filming Woman in Gold with Ryan Reynolds, which is slated for release in 2015.

Holmes and Cruise’s six-year romance seemed like a fairy tale at first. The actress had a teenage crush on the Top Gun star. Ten years ago, she told Seventeen Magazine, “I used to think I was going to marry Tom Cruise.”

In media interviews, Andrew Morton, author of Tom Cruise: An Unauthorized Biography, said that Cruise asked the Church of Scientology to help him find a wife. The church reportedly organized a meeting between the then-26-year-old actress and the Mission Impossible star, who is 16 years her senior.

Soon after, Cruise was jumping for joy over Holmes on the couch of the Oprah Winfrey Show.

The stars were married in a castle in Italy in 2006 – but the Glamour cover model suddenly filed for a divorce in 2012.

Holmes currently lives with their eight-year-old daughter Suri in New York.

While testifying in court last September, Cruise confirmed that one of the reasons Holmes filed for divorce was to protect their daughter from Scientology.
