Did Tiger Woods get drunk – to the extreme displeasure of his new girlfriend – at the Metropolitan Museum of Art gala after-party in New York on Monday night?

That's the story according to Us Weekly, which is claiming Woods and his new paramour, Olympic alpine ski champion Lindsey Vonn, wrapped up their big night out in the Big Apple on a sour note.

Woods and Vonn attended the Met Gala as guests of Vogue magazine. After smiling and posing on the red carpet (and declining multiple interview requests from reporters), the couple went downtown to attend the posh after-party being held at the Boom Boom Room atop the Standard Hotel.

Looking fit and fabulous in a full-length white dress, Vonn, 28, and her new golfer boyfriend partied with the likes of Leonardo DiCaprio, Anne Hathaway, Chris Brown and other celebrities. An unnamed source in the Us Weekly story claimed "Tiger looked uncomfortable" at the A-list soirée.

According to sources, the couple checked out the Manhattan skyline before taking their seats, where they chatted, held hands and occasionally smooched into the wee small hours of the morning. And apparently, Woods was drinking.

At one point, the divorced golfer, who made international headlines in 2009 with his serial infidelity, got up to dance rather clumsily, bopping from side to side and even grabbing Vonn's posterior on the dance floor. Vonn reportedly giggled at Tiger's unsmooth moves.

But the high point of the evening allegedly occurred around 2 a.m. when it was time to go. A seemingly inebriated Woods fell while walking up a short flight of stairs and appeared incapable of moving from the spot until Vonn – allegedly clenching her teeth and looking mortified – reached down to help him up. Vonn then guided her date, who was wobbly on his legs, to the nearest exist, according to a witness.

Woods, 37, must have sobered up fairly quickly. By mid-morning Tuesday, he was back swinging a golf club on a course in Ponte Vedra, Fla., to compete in the Players Championship.

A reporter covering the annual tournament asked Woods if he would be attending more events like the Met Gala in the future. "I don't know," said Woods. "Maybe I can just go in jeans and a T-shirt or something."
