Avon Mega Effects Mascara

The promise

Avon Mega Effects Mascara promises fuller, darker, longer lashes with just one sweep thanks to a revolutionary “wonderbrush” that transforms lashes from corner to corner.

How it works

The wide, flat, multi-bristle brush reaches lashes from end to end, coating and plumping them all equally. The adjustable wand allows you to control how much volume and intensity you want on your lashes – the more you bend it, the more dramatic your lashes will look. Because the bristles comb through the lashes easily, they deposit approximately 40 per cent more mascara compared to Avon’s regular wire wand, making for bold, clump-free and voluminous lashes. It’s available in black and brown.

How to use it

Grip the mascara container at the sides and remove the cap. Rock the brush from side to side to pull out, then bend at the desired angle and apply it from root to tip on top and bottom lashes.

The bottom line

There are ancient wonders, natural wonders, Wonderbras, wonder women and even wonder dogs (my Floyd being numero uno). But a wonderbrush? Pfft. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t skeptical when this product landed on my desk. It looks like a paintbrush made for Barbie, and the erratic bristles looked like they would make a big mess. Instead, what they made was big, gorgeous lashes. Even without curling ahead of time, one swipe was all it took to give me long, thick, dark lashes from corner to corner. I strongly advise keeping a dampened cotton swab handy as application can indeed be a bit messy. And one coat is more than enough, as a second one made my lashes heavy. Overall, though, this mascara is a hit. I would gladly submit the wonderbrush to a list of beauty wonders.
