The Product Stila HUGE Extreme Lash Mascara, $30, Shoppers Drug Mart and Murale

The Promise Get "larger than life" lashes with Stila's latest mascara. Your lashes will be drenched in the deepest black shade with no clumping or crunchy feeling.

How it works A triple-pigment formula coats lashes and builds rich, weightless and saturated colour. The blend of soft, malleable waxes prevents clumps and keeps lashes from feeling dry or brittle, while an innovative wand that contains dense but flexible fibres catches every lash and pulls it up and out.

How to use it Working from the outer edge of the eye toward the inner corner, swipe on lashes starting from the base up to the tips. You can apply one coat or multiple coats for a more voluminous effect.

The bottom line Mascara has always been my thing. Like, even in high school when I was a crunchy hippie kid who wore Birkenstocks and peasant blouses and eschewed the dictums of established society, I would still wear mascara because why can't I look pretty while I'm sticking it to The Man? Over the years, I've been through a multitude of mascara phases: designer, drugstore, coloured, cult. You could say that I'm something of a mascara pundit. So, when a mascara claims that it's going to revolutionize my life with lashes so large they'll essentially be an entity separate from my face and will require their own name (Beatrice), I harbour seriously high hopes. Sadly, those hopes were dashed. I found this mascara really clumpy, despite scraping the excess off the wand as best I could, and my lashes weren't exceptionally amplified. It definitely didn't deliver on its HUGE promises. It's too bad, because I was really looking forward to introducing you to Beatrice.
