Business may be a battlefield, but different rules apply when it comes to dress codes.

Before you surrender to fall's surplus of army-inspired styles - arguably the hottest trend to march off the runways this season - consider that you'll want to look more corporate than corporal.

1) Don't fall in line with stereotypical fatigues or - heaven forbid - cargo pants. They skew too casual for the workplace.

2) Retire the camouflage print. Instead, take a cue from the catwalk at Burberry (above left) and opt for a polished army-green jacket or dress for a less literal salute to the trend.

3) Remember that you're scaling the corporate ladder, not the training wall, so keep the footwear formal (think high-heeled boots) instead of utilitarian.
