You might be gearing up to get into fall’s cozy sweaters and oversized coats but the fashion industry is already eager to suggest what you might want to wear next season. Live from fashion week in New York, these are the collections and pieces we think you should add to your spring shopping list
BCBG: We don’t usually get behind half-tucked shirts but BCBG’s chambray oxford is chicly cut with an exaggerated tail that couldn’t be contained inside a pair of pants if you tried. Shirting-inspired pieces and details are all over the Big Apple runways.Richard Drew/The Associated Press
Tanya Taylor: This Toronto transplant’s lineup was blooming with hand painted flowers on frocks and blouses appliquéd with oversized blossoms that resembled the chintz posies on grandma’s sofa. Those tops were cut from sheer organza though, making them anything but mumsy.
Helmut Lang: There are lots of interesting angles on New York catwalks including many asymmetrical hemlines and this little black and white bonded wool dress at Helmut Lang. Prabal Gurung: Prabal Gurung’s presentation, set inside a fluorescent tube-lit plastic box in the shell of an old midtown post office, was loaded with lots of covetable clothes but it was the sunglasses that stole the show.
