As the nights get colder, there's nothing like wrapping yourself up in a big, comfy blanket.

Luckily, the more office-appropriate cocoon tunic is the next best thing. The rounded shape ruled the runways this fall and, in turn, gained traction in the real world. Yes, it's now socially acceptable to live in a bubble. Here's how.

1. To balance out all that volume, be sure to keep your bottoms slim. For the office, consider pairing the tunic with skinny trousers or a pair of leggings.

2. When accessorizing, take a cue from Jil Sander's fall collection and keep things minimal. The cocoon is a lot of look, so let the shape speak for itself.

3. A tunic makes for an easy transition piece if you're pressed for time and have an event after work. Pack semi-sheer or printed hosiery for a sexy update when you're heading out.
