Fun fact: funny man Russell Peters is also a DJ. Last week, the king of comedy was in town to pump up the volume at the third annual Right to Play fundraiser, hosted by Toronto’s fashion frontman Glen Baxter. The action went down at the Shangri-La in Toronto, with MuchMusic personalities Liz Trinnear and T-RexXx, event guru Candice Chan and blogger-about-town Jay Strut (who caused a stir while touting an e-cigarette). The annual charity ball promotes awareness by using the power of play to educate and empower children facing adversity around the globe, with this year’s event raising more than $170,000. parties@globeandmail.com
