You could conceivably eat out any day this week, but why not do it tomorrow when more than 200 restaurants in the Vancouver Lower Mainland and Whistler will donate 25 per cent of their food revenues to Friends for Life and A Loving Spoonful, two charities that help feed and support people living with AIDS and HIV (DiningOutForLife.com).
Dinner by Candlelight
Don't be surprised if you're dining out on Saturday night and the lights suddenly go off. Several Vancouver restaurants - Yew, Nu, C and Raincity Grill - are holding dinners by candlelight in observance of Earth Hour. The initiative, spearheaded by the World Wildlife Fund, began last year in Sydney, Australia, during which more than two million residents turned off their lights for one hour, reducing the city's energy consumption by 10 per cent (EarthHour.org).
