The Walther PPK cocktail

Superspy James Bond's weapon of choice, the Walther PPK is a sleek, black handgun that is also the namesake of this summery cocktail that, by contrast, is light, bright and fruity: 007 on holiday.

Mixologist Josh Lindley, who is currently a bartender at Toronto's Bar Isabel but created the cocktail for the bar menu at the Bovine Sex Club's tiki bar in the city's Queen West neighbourhood, says he conceived the drink as a throwback to classic Bond style, using vodka that he bloodies by adding bitter-sweet Aperol.

That is then topped with tart Canadianmade Bottlegreen soda for a mix of crisp, clean, floral-scented flavours that go down easy. To make the cocktail, take a tall glass filled with ice and build the drink in order of the ingredients listed below. Give two or three quick stirs and garnish with a cascading lemon peel.

The Walther PPK

1 oz SKYY Vodka

½ oz Aperol

1 oz pineapple juice
