Crazy-expensive holiday gift, anyone? The great, cellar-worthy Tuscan red Solaia delivered handsomely in 2009. Supple, round and velvety, it offers up rich plum, berries and spice, with magical mushroom and tobacco woven into the fabric. Glorious stuff. Too bad more of us can’t afford it. Remarkably, this blend of cabernet sauvignon, sangiovese and cabernet franc is drinking nicely now, though it will reward at least two decades in the cellar. Pair it with a regal roast – if you can afford beef after blowing all that money on the bottle. Available in Ontario.
