A new winery in Lillooet, 250 kilometres northeast of Vancouver on the Fraser River, Fort Berens is knee-deep in the task of bringing new vineyards on stream. In the interim, this 2011 Bordeaux blend combines fruit from the Lillooet property as well as from the excellent Sundial Vineyard in the Okanagan Valley. It's full-bodied, with a whiff of tobacco on the nose and aromas and flavours of black currant, blackberry and baking spices and a zap of acidity on the finish. Available direct from fortberens.ca.
