Salentein Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2011, Argentina Add to ...

  • Rating 89
  • Year 2011
  • Region Mendoza
  • Varietal Cabernet sauvignon
  • Food Pairing Roast beef
  • Price $17.95

The chalky texture and fine-tannin backbone let you know this is serious red, a notch above populist sweet-grapy malbecs for which Argentina has become famous. And, yes, it’s cabernet, not malbec, so you can expect a drier profile and more suitable structure for, say, roast beef. It’s full-bodied, ripe and vaguely sweet, with ripe black currant and plum supported by luscious chocolate. Available in Ontario.
