It was an abbreviated season, but the summer of 2011 managed to accommodate certain vine varieties remarkably well. Cabernet franc was one. Or, at least, Burrowing Owl's cab franc was among them. It's bracing and dry yet ripe and intriguing, with notes of cherry, cigar, herbs and graphite. Perfect for grilled lamb chops or herb-marinated leg of lamb.
