“Gold” is a suitable catch-all. There are four grapes in this blend: pinot gris, chardonnay, sauvignon blanc and gewürztraminer. In an effort to hit as many flavour notes as possible, producers of late have flooded the market with so-called aromatic blends that are subtly sweet but technically dry. This attractive example is almost off-dry, with rounded sweetness and ripe notes of peach, melon, tropical fruit and banana lifted by a spicy-musky character and floral quality. Good on its own in the sunshine or with spicy food; unionwines.com.
