wine review

Formerly known as Soaring Eagle Estate, Bench 1775 rests on a beautiful ridge called the Naramata Bench above Okanagan Lake. The new owners felt that the address, 1775 Naramata Rd., would resonate better with the uniqueness of the place. No argument there. And the wines soar pretty high nonetheless. This pinot gris is light, dry and ripe, with pronounced pear flavour joined by subtle banana, red apple and citrus. It's crisp, clean and yummy. Look also for Bench 1775's very fine white blend called Chill and the rosé called Glow, both priced in the same neighbourhood. Available direct from bench1775.com.
