wine review

Talamonti, founded in 2001, crafts ripe, modern wines, but in Italy there's always a connection to the past. Here it's partly found in the name. Tre Saggi means "three wise men." The reference is to a fresco in the nearby church of Santa Maria in Piano depicting what are believed to be Judaism's patriarchs Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Drink in the history as you savour the richly smooth blackberry, vanilla and chocolate flavours laced with savoury oak and sticky tannins; $19.95 in B.C., $16.98 in Newfoundland.
