Tavel is for lovers – of serious, concentrated, dry rosés. The Rhône Valley district turns out many cellar-worthy examples that often exceed 14-per-cent alcohol, but this is relatively kind and gentle, at 13.5 per cent. Chewy in texture, it tastes like raspberry punch laced with herbs and is much more balanced than the French budget. Available in Ontario.
