Alamos is a value-priced brand from the prominent Argentine winemaking family Catena, and this torrontes stands out for the money. One sniff and you might be tempted to dab a few drops behind the ears. Light-bodied yet slightly oily and smooth in texture, it's dry and marvellously suggestive of white table grapes, blossoms and lime. Lovely as an aperitif, it would be splendid with Asian-inspired salads as well as lightly spiced stir fries. Available in Ontario.
