This is a solid example of barbera at a very fair price. Ascheri's 2014 shows ripe, pretty cherry-blackberry fruit underpinned by the grape's classic tart edge. Fragrant, firm and versatile at the table, but better with cured meats, grilled sausages or eggplant parmesan than a regal steak.
