There’s not much call these days for sweet sherry, a fortified wine that seemed to go out of fashion with waistcoats and poke bonnets. Did that stop the Spanish from making it? No, thank goodness. What you have here is a syrupy, mahogany-hued nectar that tastes like raisin pie studded with nuts and dried figs. It’s very sweet but balanced, with a finish as long as Queen Victoria’s reign
