Need I translate cerise? It’s cherry, as in cherry-infused beer. It’s a Belgian-style ale but not to be confused with some of its considerably sweeter – and in some cases more sour – kin. Fetchingly pink-orange and hazy, it’s dry, with an active, lingering head of foam. The lively effervescence carries through on the palate, carrying a cherry flavour that’s somewhere between fresh orchard fruit and cough drops, with hints of bread and baking spices for a bit of complexity. A casual, crisp-tart, end-of-summer quaff, sort of like the rosé-wine of beers. Available in Ontario for a limited time.
