Enjoy this delicious smoothie as a quick breakfast or as a midday snack to boost flagging energy. Not only is it an excellent source of calcium, it also delivers heart-healthy alpha linolenic acid (ALA), an omega-3 fatty acid plentiful in flaxseed.
1/2 cup mixed fresh or frozen berries
1 cup 1 per cent or skim milk
1 tablespoon ground flaxseed (flax meal)
In blender, combine milk, berries, banana and flaxseed. Process until thick and frothy.
