Glenn Harkness is the sole Canadian in a field of 25 runners from around the world participating in this year's North Pole Marathon on April 7, held on the geographic north pole. Organizers of the event have told him to expect temperatures of -25 C and lower. How is the 48-year-old executive director of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Hamilton going to stay warm in this, his first marathon? Layers. "It's very, very important that you dress in layers so that if you get too warm you can take layers off or put them on if you get too cool," he says. He shared his gear checklist with The Globe.
