In most (mainstream) movies, the bath is a background prop at best. In the upcoming Fifty Shades of Grey, the tub is a key piece of scenery (in the book the flick is based on, it's the place of a pivotal, appropriately lurid "popsicle" appearance).
The movie's set stylist found the perfect basin – one that fits two people comfortably and looks swish enough to be in Christian Grey's ultra-posh penthouse – at Vancouver's Blu Bathworks.
The studio's ironically named Halo model comes in two sizes (a single and a two-person) and has ergonomic sides that are comfortable for both sitting up and slinking down. It's also made from a proprietary quartzite composite (for the film it's white, but it also comes in any number of colours and can be embossed with any pattern) that helps the bathwater retain its heat – although depending on the bathing ritual, that feature may be redundant.
