Born in Canada, raised in Switzerland and educated in England, peripatetic art curator Claire Taylor settled down in Toronto five years ago to direct The Artist Project, the annual contemporary-art fair held at Exhibition Place. For her new home, she chose a two-bedroom Yorkville condo with floor-to-ceiling windows that offer such spectacular city views she decided to adopt a spare approach to her decorating. "I really wanted the living room to have a breezy feeling and allow people to stand right next to the window," Taylor says. "I wanted it to inspire."

The sound system

"The sound is so clear on my La Boite Concept sound system, it reminds me of a modern jukebox. The best part is that the speaker connects to all my devices via Bluetooth. I also like the red legs."

The painting

"This is the first work I collected from The Artist Project. It is Free Floating by Demetrios Papakostas. I love its atmospheric quality. The layers of paint make it very reactive. It's almost like another window reflecting the time of day, the weather and my mood."

The bench

"I bought this bench from a shop in South Kensington in London, where I lived after completing my master's degree. The shop specializes in reproduction antique pieces. I fell in love with its simple, clean-lined, mid-century style; it always reminds me of my time in the U.K."

The sculpture

"This sculpture by Dana Filibert is playful and reminds me that art shouldn't always take itself too seriously. The dash of bright blue gives it an irresistible hard-candy quality, which I love."

The art catalogues

"Art fairs have reached a new level of cultural relevance, and I always make sure to bring back an art catalogue from my travels. I keep them on the coffee table for easy access. They serve my memories and provide me with a rich source of inspiration."

The grey leather chair

"While attending the Venice Biennale this past summer, my boyfriend and I had the opportunity to visit the Italian leather-design company Frag. I was impressed by the rich leathers and amazed by the hours of craftsmanship that go into each chair."

The couches

"The couches are custom pieces made by a company call Arhaus. I selected the shape, fabric and wood. I wanted them to be neutral and not compete with the view. I chose the shape to encourage conversation."

The view

"The south-facing view is truly breathtaking. Toronto has a spectacular skyline and my living room provides the perfect vantage point. The U of T campus creates a dramatic contrast to the verticality of the financial district. It's spectacular at night."
