Listing agent: Paul Johnston, Right at Home Realty Inc.

Close to the intersection of Queen and King streets, the former CBC props warehouse was converted into a residential building with more than 100 lofts in 1998.

Many units often spend a couple months on the market, however, this third-floor loft sold in just two days on account of its stylish renovation and design, says agent Paul Johnston.

“My clients both come from an architectural background, so they really did a beautiful job of customizing it,” he says. “[It's] one of the best minimalist spaces I've seen in the city”

The most practical – yet dramatic – change to the 1,620-square-foot loft was the use of frosted-glass walls to create two bedrooms, whereas most units have only one bedroom.

“I thought it was just genius because it still allowed light to get into the master room and still … provided the kind of privacy that's often difficult to accomplish in a loft,” says Mr. Johnston.

The bathroom was remodelled with a sliding walnut door, Carrara marble finishes and a floating vanity.

The open kitchen features new custom cabinetry, under-mounted sinks and stainless-steel appliances, including a gas cook top.

“A lot of units still have the original pine kitchens and bathrooms or have some modest renovations,” says Mr. Johnston. “This is really a whole renovation, so that's what made this appeal so much to the buyers.”

However, the previous owners did keep the original fluted columns, polished concrete floors, 14-foot ceilings and exposed ductwork, in addition to floor-to-ceiling, south-facing windows along the living and dining area.

The loft also comes with ensuite laundry facilities, an exterior locker and parking. Heating and hydro is covered by the monthly fee of $586.

More shops, restaurants and cafes are popping up the area, which is close to the historic Distillery District and Leslieville.

Commuting is easy via 24-hour streetcars on Queen Street East or the Don Valley Parkway and Gardiner Expressway.
